The building behind me is called the TLC (Talibans Last Stand) building this is where the Taliban stood and fought the US military to the last man, no prisoners.

I am now able to send and recieve email know. I’m in Kandahar Afghanistan at the air base and my hooch is right by the runway where they park all the choppers and they like to start them things up at all hours of the night and the landing and taken off of the fixed wing sucks! but I have ear plugs. We are black out on what is taken place back in the world (USA) and hear a few things. Mostly from the Stars and Stripes paper that comes out every day and if you are not quick to pick one up you don’t get one. It is kind of quiet until we get hit and all you know what breaks loose. The bad guys are starting to hit us more often and it is more a nusance than anything. Just thought I would say howdy and check you all later, say hello to everyone. Sir Duck

Hello all,
Just a quick note to wish you a happy New Year and hope your year is getting off to a great start. I have now been here for 6 months. Sometimes it seems like forever, and then other times, like it is flying by. Only 5 more months since January is almost over. Here it is the 20th of the new year. Yahoo………. I should be home NLT 15 July, just in time to take Mary Jane on a cruise to Alaska. It will be my first. It has been really cold here the last month or two. We had 12″ of snow on Sunday. Was really fun to play in the snow like a kid. The soldiers here are from Florida, and some, this was the first snow they had experienced. Still working hard and enjoying the people here. Most are really nice and good people. I finally cut my hair yesterday. Most say I look much younger. I don’t know. I feel for those of you with long hair, trying to keep the knots out when you wash it. Take care and more later.
Love ya’ll

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Another month gone and all is doing well here in the BIG A. I am doing well and learning a lot of good and interesting things. Work with a good bunch of folks and making some long time friendships. The weather has turned colder. We have a daily high of around 40 and low 30’s high 20’s at night. Still no snow at our elevation. However, the mountains to the west has snow on the tops. Will send pictures next email. Some of your servers don’t allow large attachments. Enjoy the pictures. We really appreciate all the good things that are being sent to the soldiers here from you guys. They thank you and are amazed that total strangers would take the time to think of them. I finally left the compound this week. Had some information that I need to get from Bagrahm and needed it immediately, so went on a convoy. What a different experience. Had to be on the lookout for the bad guys and there handiwork. Thank the LORD, we had no problems and it was a good time away from Phoenix. As most of you know, I love to travel and not being able to do it, do to security reasons, makes for a difficult year. However, I have good friends here and time fly’s by. Our Task Force has continued to be blessed with very few injuries and no deaths. PRAISE THE LORD. Most of the injuries occur when the soldiers are playing basketball and volleyball. Go figure. I have started walking every day at 0500. I walk for 35 minutes and feel really good all day. Not as tired. Have also started playing racquet ball. It comes back pretty quick. Can play for two hours and feel pretty good. Well I hope that this finds all of you in good spirits and the next 7 days go well and not to much stress. May your stockings be full of good things and cheer next Sunday.
Praise the Lord and may ya’ll have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. May 2006 be better than 2005. I will be home in the summer and look forward to seeing as many as possible upon my return.
Love ya’ll
Michael
